Has the cold weather setting in finally got you feeling a little lack luster in the hair department? We wrote about How to Prevent Your Hair Color from Fading back in August but this is different. We’re not talking about changing your color for the winter…we mean boosting SHINE. There are so many products on the market today that promise to boost shine but here are some of our favorites.
Alterna Bamboo Luminous Shine Mist: This shine mist makes claims that it “polishes any hair type with sheer mirror-like shine” and we feel it does just that. It’s not heavy or greasy, is produced by an eco-friendly brand and smells good, too. This is a great addition to your morning routine after styling. Just spritz a few pumps all over the head and voila! shine all day.
Oribe Shine Light Reflecting Spray: We have been big fans of Oribe hair products since the introduction of his Gold Pomade. This shine spray boasts argan oil and lemongrass properties that not only enhance color and highlights but also helps to tame flyaways. It doesn’t hurt that it won the Allure Best of Beauty, as well. Oribe applies the shine spray to a brush first and then brushes through the hair. He also says you can finish by spraying directly on the hair if you want ultimate luster.
Organix Weightless Hydrating Oil Mist: With our love of coconut oil for the face and body why not add it to our hair regime, right? This is a great drug store brand that nourishes and hydrates the hair while adding shine simultaneously. At roughly only $7 a bottle it’s a great addition that won’t break the bank. Use sparingly, though as it can be a little heavy if applied all over hair that isn’t really dry.
Fekkai Glossing Cream: A favorite of Jen B’s for many years is Fekkai’s Glossing Cream. You can apply it to damp hair before blow drying to combat frizziness or use a small pea size through the ends of hair after drying to tame hair and add shine. This cream has a Shine-Release Complex that renews hair’s shine all throughout the day. The olive oil spheres make this cream super silky and give the hair a really soft finish.
Salon Glossing Treatment: Finally, one of our favorite treatments for full blown shine that lasts for a few weeks is a salon glossing treatment such as Redken’s EQ Clear Gloss. Their EQ line comes with glossing treatments in color or clear but we love the clear because it enhances the shine of your hair without compromising your natural hair color or salon highlights. In fact, we like to get glossing treatments in between color appointments to extend the life of our color, add back shine and (obviously) get a full salon blowout in the process!
Have you tried any shine sprays or glossing treatments that you love? We’d like to hear about (and try) them! Please leave us your comments below or tell us on Facebook and Twitter.
