Hello MYD Beauties!
I can never explain how important skincare is in your every day routine! Yes, we all love makeup and could talk about it all day every day… however, makeup isn’t going to do you any good if you don’t take care of your skin!
There are many different skin types and skin conditions. A lot of times people mix the two of these up. They are both very important when you’re trying to determine a good skin care routine for yourself, but they are both very different! There are four main skin types: Normal, Oily, Dry, and Combination. Where with skin conditions there are so many for example: hyperpigmentation, acne, and fine lines and wrinkles.
Now, when you are starting to try to create a good skin routine for yourself you want to start with your skin type. You also want to remember you don’t necessarily have the same skin type all of the time. Hormonal changes, skin disorders, diet, weather, and your current skin care routine are all major influences on your skin type! Next you want to determine the skin conditions you may have.
If you don’t have thirty minutes every morning and night to devote to skin care there are four essential steps you should do no matter what. To start off you need to make sure you have at least one good cleanser for your skin type. You can always switch it up and use one in the morning and a different one at night. You want to massage the cleanser into you skin for about a minute to two minutes. This is going to make sure you get all of the makeup off and give you a nice clean canvas to start your skincare routine!
Image is one of my all time favorite skincare lines! I highly suggest you try some of their products out. Here are their different cleansers. Personally I use the Clear Cell cleanser because I tend to have breakouts pretty frequently! I’ve tried them all and love all of them!
The next item I recommend using is an exfoliator. The exfoliator is like the cleanser, but its going to give a deeper clean and remove dead skin cells. This will leave your skin soft, clean and fresh! Now, if you have very sensitive skin I wouldn’t recommend using an exfoliator every night. You could use it every other night or every two nights depending on how sensitive your skin is.
Lush also is another one of my favorite places to purchase skincare products. They have some really great exfoliators and masks! Ocean Salt is one of my favorites!! It works great on all skin types! You should definitely try it out.
Once your skin is nice and clean you should use a moisturizer. Just like every skin care product there are many different types of moisturizers. So, depending on your skin type and conditions determines which moisturizer will be best for you! Last, but certainly not lease is sunscreen! Sunscreen is a must every day. I cannot stress to you how important taking care of your skin is! Oh, and even if your makeup says there’s spf in it you should still always apply this to the skin after you moisturize in the mornings!
Here are the moisturizer and sunscreen I recommend! You can go out and buy a more high end moisturizer, but Cetaphil is one moisturizer I always have in my skincare collection. It works great! Going back to Image, this is a great sunscreen to apply at the end of your morning skincare routine!!
I will be going more into depth in an up coming blog really going into the different types of skin, the conditions, and the disorders. Also, I will recommend some of my favorites for all of them! Until then please feel free to contact me or anybody at Makeup for Your Day if you you have any questions about your skin!
