Hurricanes and Weddings!

Hello sweet friends! It is hurricane season!  It’s also wedding season!  I am totally biased, but autumn is my very favorite season as well as time to get married.  But like I said, I’m so biased!  If you don’t know much about me, two years ago I got engaged in October and then last year I got married in October.  So October and autumn are my favorite time of year!

But with this time of year, comes hurricanes!  Watching the weather on the news the past few weeks, we have been getting a lot of those passing all around us.  My whole perspective changed about the idea of  rain on your wedding day when Matthew came through NC last year.  We had planned almost everything for outside, and then the morning of the wedding, good ‘ole Matthew started blowing through.  There was a sadness about me upon waking up, realizing that everything we had pictured was out the window.  But little did I realize how perfect this storm was going to change our day.

Rain can make for amazing photos, amazing video, and it heightens your senses of all that’s around you.  Rain cleanses and makes things grow.  It is not something to be upset over, it’s something to be thankful for.  When I look at the photos from our day, I remember all that rain.  But when it’s raining like it is now with the remnants of Irma passing through, it reminds me of our special day.  There is beauty in rain that you must step back and look at to realize.  So, today I wanted to share with you all, photos from our wedding when rain was there.  Matthew came through, but we still got married.  And at the end of the day, that’s what we wanted most. :]

This last one is one of my favorites, it’s so close up, but you can see how wet my husband’s jacket is.  At that point, the ends of my hair were drenched as well, but neither of us were paying attention to any of it.

One thing is for sure ladies, Airbrush makeup is hurricane proof! I was lucky enough to have both Jen’s of MYD do my hair and makeup and my hair was what needed the most work before the reception.

I’ll leave you with our video, I love the way our videographer incorporated the rain.  The poor guy was soaked after getting all that footage, but he made it so beautiful in the edits!  Have a lovely rainy day everyone!
