Hello MYD Beauties,

Lindsay and Hal said I do with a touch of sophistication and lot of romance. With the timeless The Umstead as the setting, it wasn’t hard to immediately fall in love with the  wedding day. We loved Lindsay’s big romantic curls and elegant gown. The touch of silver in the bridesmaids dresses and white flowers gave their wedding the perfect amount of sophistication. Did we mention the ice cream? How could you not fall in love over the perfect ending, a Mr. & Mrs. ice cream cone!

Megan S and Valentina did a great job on the brides hair and makeup, and the bridesmaids looked great with the help of Dee and Kelsi!

A storybook wedding is the best way to describe Rachel’s wedding day at The Jefferson Inn. We love Rachel’s effortless makeup and hair, how beautiful are her blue eyes? The pops of purple pair perfectly with the white and green floral accents. The wedding cake is every little girls dream, we all remember craving our first initials in a tree. Top this wedding day off with burgers and french fries and we are officially in love.

Hello MYD Beauties!

Everyone has mornings when they only have 5 minutes to get ready and out the door. For me, that is almost every morning. With a little one that needs to be at school on time, getting myself and him ready and out the door, 5 minutes is all I have in the mornings.  Being the makeup junkie that I am, I always love to wear makeup and I have found my perfect “5 Minute” makeup look.

First step, moisturize! As I get older, my skin has become more of a focus point for me, so moisturizing is a major key. Now on to my new favorite foundation, Hourglass Vanish foundation, it’s a stick foundation, which makes application super quick and easy. I always use concealer, under the eyes and around the nose, Tarte Shape Tape has been my staple for the past few months. Set the foundation and concealer with a powder. I have very dry skin, so most powders are a no go for me, but Ben Nye Luxury Powder in Cameo has been doing wonders for me. It doesn’t leave the “powdery” appearance on my skin.

Adding some warmth back in my face with Makeup Forever Pro Bronze Fusion and a small amount of BECCA Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop, are my finishing touches to the rest of my face. During the week, I very rarely wear eyeshadow, but filling in my brows with Anastasia Brow Wiz and a couple applications of Buxom Lash Mascara are just the right touch. To finish the complete look, lip gloss is my savior during my busy mornings. I absolutely love NYX Butter gloss in Madeleine, it’s my perfect nude.

Anybody else got Spring Fever? We do! What is it about spring time that makes us want lighten things up and take a more “natural” approach to our makeup?  I am so ready for dewy natural makeup to make a comeback. This is one of my personal favorite “Daytime Spring” makeup looks.

As always, first step is to moisturize the skin, I added an extra step today with applying Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist after my moisturizer. For primer I used Cover FX Illuminating Primer followed up my foundation. I wanted to use a liquid foundation for this look, Urban Naked Skin Foundation provides a very natural dewy finish, which is perfect for this daytime look. As always, my ride or die, Tarte Shape Tape Concealer under the eyes and around the nose. I used Laura Mercier Candleglow Sheer Perfecting Powder to set my foundation and under eye area. This powder leaves your skin with a soft glowing finish. For bronzer I used Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder to warm up my complexion. For a more subtle glow, I used a cream highlighter, Pur Sun Kissed Glow Palette is one of my favorites. I use a beauty blender to apply it on the high points of the cheeks. You can’t have a spring look without a pink blush, Nars blush in Deep Throat adds just the right amount of pink for me.

On to the eyes, I kept this very simple, I used Makeup Geek Cosmetics single shadow in Cupcake in my crease and lid. To darken my crease, I applied the shade Ambrosia from the Too Faced White Chocolate Chip Palette. And finish the look, Raspberry Rose from the same palette adds a nice shimmer to the lid. Apply your favorite mascara, I used Maybelline Stiletto Mascara. To make my eyes appear more awake, I applied a nude eyeliner in my waterline, lately I have been using Rimmel Exaggerate liner “in the nude”. As always, fill in your brows, Anastasia Brow Wiz never lets me down. To finish off this Spring look, one of my favorite lip products, Yves Saint Laurent Volupte Tint-In-Oil in shade “Cherry My Cherie 5”. This lip product is so amazing, very moisturizing and adds just the right amount of color.

I have been educating myself on the world of Korean Skincare, and through my recent stalking of my favorite bloggers and Youtuber (Gothamista and Beauty Unplugged), I was introduced to Erborian Ginseng Milk. I have always struggled with skin texture issues, it’s not acne it’s just texture and roughness. The upcoming winter season will only irritate my skin more. I have been on the massive search for a product to help smooth the texture without irritating my sensitive skin.

Erborian Ginseng Milk is described as a milky lotion that is enriched with the moisturizing and smoothing properties of Ginseng to improve the appearance of skin’s texture. I was immediately sold on the description of the product. I could not add this to my Sephora cart fast enough.

I have been testing this product for 6 days, I apply it morning and night after toning and before my cream moisturizers. First thing I loved was the scent! It has a therapeutic smell, very smoothing and calming, which will always be a plus in my eyes. Next on my list of loves is the texture of the Ginseng Milk, it literally looks like milk, it has a thicker “lotion like” consistency, it’s very moisturizing, my dry skin soaks it up!

I applied this for the first time during my night time skin care routine and after waking up the next day I could instantly feel how soft and plump my skin felt. I didn’t experience any tightness or roughness usually associated in my skin. This product has quickly become one of my staple “must have” items. I cherish it and I don’t know why it took me so long to find it.

Erborian Ginseng Milk is the perfect product to add to your skincare routine if you’re looking to add something that will smooth any stubborn roughness or texture. Plus, it’s a great step into the world of K-Beauty. I am never turning back.

Hello MYD Beauties,

It’s Holy Grail Makeup product time! Concealer is one of my must have items in my daily routine. I am a busy mom on-the-go and most days I don’t have time for a full face of makeup. So it’s usually concealer, powder, brows and go!

I have tried countless concealers, both high end and drug store and never found “the one”. But my search is finally over, say hello to my ride or die! This formula is perfection, it’s so easy to blend and the results are flawless.

One thing I have always had an issue with is that I have very dry under eyes, so most concealers will emphasize that dryness. That was the first time I noticed with Shape Tape, after I blended it out it didn’t cling to my under eye dryness or my fine lines.I have applied this with a damp beauty blender and with my finger, I find the most “airbrushed” results are achieved when using the damp beauty blender.

At $24, Shape Tape can be purchased at Ulta and Tarte.com. Tarte also just extended the shade range in this concealer, so everyone can find their perfect match.

I’m just waiting for them to turn this concealer formula into a foundation….

Hello MYD Beauties!

Did you know that our Raleigh Makeup for Your Day studio space hosts classes and events every month? These small intimate events are usually centered around the season and can be focused on makeup, hairstyling or overall beauty and health!

We recently had a class that was focused on getting the perfect blowout… at home! Guests were taught the proper shampoo and conditioner to help keep there hair in pristine condition and the products needed for the ultimate smooth and shine!

Blowouts and Bellinis was also a fun social event as we had finger foods and drinks on hand! This great group of girls had some gorgeous hair at the end of the night and were able to maintain the look at home!

Hello MYD Beauties!

We had the absolute pleasure of doing hair & makeup for the Gilded Bridal Fashion Show, and we had a blast. First off, Gilded Bridal Store is a dream, so modern and inspiring, it’s just magic.

We had a bit of creative freedom with this event, and for us, that is heaven. Tell us to turn the models into rocker chic brides, we couldn’t get started fast enough. We love how the models looked in their final looks! Those dresses, paired with our modern hair and makeup, they looked unstoppable.

We are obsessed with the “new” Bridal looks, how about you?
