Vendor Booking Timeline

Choosing your vendors for your big day can be a daunting task.  There are so many things on your check list when first starting out, it’s hard to know where to begin.  We are loving this timeline that Wedding Wire has come out with to help manage when different vendors should be found and booked. WW X2-VendorBookingTimeline-2017_x2_v03

When it comes to hair and makeup, the earlier the better. Thus, why we love this time line.  Twelve months or more gives you time to not only find the hair and makeup artists that fit your style and needs perfectly, but allows you to get in for a trial very early on so you can check off your list what you want your look to be for your big day!

We here at Makeup for Your Day, love traveling world wide to get brides ready.  We’ve seen some pretty spectacular venues out there and look forward to seeing more breathtaking places for gorgeous ceremonies and receptions.  For you newly engaged couples out there, be sure and check out this list to explore beautiful wedding venues in the Raleigh area as well as all over the world!copy-of-mikkelpaige-merrimon_wynne_house-makeup_for_your_day_0009

Lindsay + Hal

Hello MYD Beauties,

copy-of-0002-lindsay_hal-copy

Lindsay and Hal said I do with a touch of sophistication and lot of romance. With the timeless The Umstead as the setting, it wasn’t hard to immediately fall in love with the  wedding day. We loved Lindsay’s big romantic curls and elegant gown. The touch of silver in the bridesmaids dresses and white flowers gave their wedding the perfect amount of sophistication. Did we mention the ice cream? How could you not fall in love over the perfect ending, a Mr. & Mrs. ice cream cone!

Megan S and Valentina did a great job on the brides hair and makeup, and the bridesmaids looked great with the help of Dee and Kelsi!

Did Somebody Say Pool Party?!

Hey MYD Beauties!

I don’t know about you, but I am SO ready for pool parties, the beach, & laying out getting that nice summer tan!

First off, I want to start by saying obviously you don’t have to wear makeup to the pool or beach. If you’re comfortable not wearing any that’s awesome! Let your skin breathe! However, I personally just feel a little more comfortable with a little something on. Obviously you don’t need a full face of makeup at the pool, so here is my favorite go to makeup look for any pool party or beach trip with friends! Even if you’re not wearing makeup sunscreen is super important!! This is a must for anybody that’s going out in the sun. It should be apart of you’re morning skincare routine, but especially if you’re planning on being in the sun all day!

My go to is a BB cream or tinted moisturizer.  This is a great way to hydrate your skin and add a small amount of coverage. It shouldn’t be a thick, cakey layer of foundation. Just a very light weight, sheer coverage, hydrating moisturizer! I will also add a small amount of bronzer on my cheeks and the frame of my face. Also, a little bit of highlight on the tops of my cheekbones! For both the bronzer and highlighter I prefer a cream product in the summer just because it will last a lot longer! I keep the eyes very simple… just a coat of waterproof mascara!

This look literally takes me five minutes and is great for the summer! It’s the perfect amount of makeup for the “no makeup” makeup look.

MYD Wedding: Rachel | The Jefferson Inn Southern Pines

Hello MYD Beauties,

copy-of-wdgb-069

A storybook wedding is the best way to describe Rachel’s wedding day at The Jefferson Inn. We love Rachel’s effortless makeup and hair, how beautiful are her blue eyes? The pops of purple pair perfectly with the white and green floral accents. The wedding cake is every little girls dream, we all remember craving our first initials in a tree. Top this wedding day off with burgers and french fries and we are officially in love.

Day to Night – St. Patricks Day Edition!

Happy St. Patricks Day MYD loves!

I’m so happy to share another day to night makeup look with you guys! These are some of my favorite looks to create because I don’t know about you, but I don’t always have an extra hour to spend on my makeup. This is a quick and easy way to transform your day makeup into an emerald green smokey eye!

So this is a very simple look for a day time look. I did my makeup exactly like I do on a day to day basis. All I did was add a green shadow to my lower lash line! I did add a very tiny amount to my outer corner as well. I have pretty oily skin and some texture, so I’ll list the products that are included in my every day makeup routine! To start off I use the Porefessional primer by Benefit. Since my skin is oily I have big pores and this primer does an amazing job at really making my skin look a lot smoother. I use Kat Van D foundation, Tarte Shape Tape concealer, Laura Mercier translucent setting powder, & the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Palette to contour my face. To finish off my face I go in with a little bit of Hoola bronzer from Benefit, blush from Urban Decay (I usually mix a few colors together), and my go to highlight is Champagne Pop by Becca!

Moving on to the eyes… on a typical day I tend to just put a nice warm brown shade in my entire crease and highlight my inner corner. That’s exactly what I did to create this look too! But, I added a slightly darker brown shade to my outer corner with a touch of a dark green shadow! To finish off the eye I smudged a lighter green shadow on my lower lash line. Oh and you can’t forget about brows! I used the same shade I use as my inner corner highlight for my brow bone. As always I used the Anastasia Brow Wiz to fill in my brows.

Now it’s time to smoke it out & go out to celebrate St. Patricks Day!

To transform this look into a night time look only takes a few steps! I used the same dark brown shadow in the outer crease to really smoke it out. I also brought that same shade down to connect with the light green shadow that is on my lower lash line. I then went into my Makeup Forever Artist Shadow Palette and used the emerald green glitter shadow in the shade ME-302. I applied this all over the lid. After applying this I realized I needed a little more, so I went into my Sonia Kashuk Gems and Jewels Palette and added that emerald green shadow on top. This definitely made a huge difference. To finish up I added a touch of a gold glitter shadow to my inner corner. There’s a gold glitter in both of the palettes that work great!

I added a very thin line of gel eyeliner on my lash line and also tight lined. I used Pur cosmetics Fully Charged mascara to bring it all together! A pair of false lashes would look great with this look too. I kept a nude lip for both the day and night look just because I really wanted to focus to be on the emerald green eye!

I hope you enjoyed this day to night St. Patricks Day makeup look!

Until next time,

XOXO, Caitlynn
