Caroline, Abbey, Megan and I started our day by making over our two gorgeous models.

Models at the Carolina Inn Bridal Show. Hair and Makeup by Makeup for Your Day. Dresses provided by Tre Bella.

I had so much fun at this show because we come to the Carolina Inn several times a year for weddings, and it was great to see the place totally decked out. Several of our artists & stylists were able to come to the event to meet all of the brides that came out to the show.

We even got to hang out with Heidi Dawson, the director of catering for the Carolina Inn and a good friend of the Makeup for Your Day team. One of our resident stylists, Megan is getting married this year and was able to attend the show with her fiance, Anthony!

One of my favorite parts of bridal shows is the food! I don’t know that I have seen so many different food vendors in one place before! We had cake, pie, chicken and waffles on a stick, and there was even a s’mores bar. Yes.. a buffet where you could make your own s’mores. YUM! Jen and Susanne had to grab a cheerwine and donuts!

Tasty treats were available all over The Carolina Inn!

I will documenting all of the bridal shows Megan and I went to in the month of February on the blog over the next few days! Please tune in tomorrow for more!

See you at the next show!

MYD Bride Leah’s Charming Southern Wedding

Today we are extremely excited to share some gorgeous photos from Leah and Austin’s wedding. Leah is such a beautiful and sweet Southern girl and we absolutely loved working with her for her big day! Leah and Austin wanted a Southern wedding and used a stunning blush, peach and gold wedding palette – everything at their wedding was beautiful, especially Leah!

Two talented members of the Makeup for Your Day team were there. Jennifer House was on site for hair and Brenna there to do makeup for the girls. We absolutely love Leah’s bridal look. We think that her romantic textured updo looks amazing with her classic defined makeup. This gorgeous low bun was accented with an incredible hair piece. For makeup, Leah’s look was natural and feminine accenting her amazing eyes and smile!

Thank you to Nancy Ray Photography for the amazing photos!

MYD Featured on Southern Bride & Groom’s Blog!

MYD is proud to be featured in Southern Bride & Groom’s blog for Candace and Marty’s beach wedding! We are always excited to share the news when weddings that we had the pleasure of working on get featured online and in print!

This was such a beautiful wedding to be a part of. We wanted to share these photos {courtesy  of Michael Moss} as a sneak peek to give you a little look at the images to come in our full post. Check back for our full post with more photos of Candace’s hair and makeup later in the month!

We think that beach weddings are so romantic! Would you have a beach wedding?

Gatsby Continues to Inspire

It’s going to be a Gatsby year! As we described in our last post, we love the retro-glam feel of the 1920s. We are glad that they are back again and hope that the release of the feature film inspires clothing lines, accessories – and best of all – makeup!
It was so great to be a part of Southern Bride and Groom‘s Gatsby-themed photo shoot. They just wrote a great blog post about the shoot with mention of all of the great vendors involved in pulling everything together.
We love that this shoot has been so well-received. We’re very proud to say that we have been featured online and in their print publication for this shoot.

When observing the hair and makeup trends of the 1920s, the hairstyles were mostly short. In 1926, the Eton Crop came to be and it was considered shocking to older generations because a hair was a source of pride for women and their view was that it should be kept long. In the 1920s the short, almost masculine hairstyles were rampant.

Here is Hollywood’s take on Gatsby style.

What is your favorite part of Gatsby-style – the hair, the makeup, the accessories, the hair pieces? We would love to hear about your Gatsby inspiration!

MYD Beautifies Southern Bride & Groom’s 2013 Fashion Spread

We are so proud to present this fashion spread from Southern Bride and Groom’s latest issue. We were excited to be a part of this photo shoot, working with a variety of models to do many different hair and makeup looks.
This photo shoot feels so fresh and it is a great way to start the new year. The goal was to achieve a fresh and flawless face and then to transform the model’s hair into a completely different hairstyle with each new outfit.
We loved being able to do a few updos. These are always such neat, classic and elegant looks. We also loved being able to do some loose curls, a half-up-half-down look and also a side-ponytail.

There were a variety of very talented people at this shoot. Thank you Southern Bride and Groom for orchestrating a great shoot, and asking us to be a part of it, thank you Dara Blakeley for your beautiful photographs and to The Umstead Hotel for hosting the photo shoot. Feel free to contact us if you would like a copy, or contact one of the many distributors in North Carolina.

We loved being a part of this photo shoot and bringing int the new year with some fresh looks. For more hair and makeup inspiration, check out our Pinterest page! And be sure to LIKE us on Facebook to stay in the loop and see photos of events, photo shoots and weddings that we have the pleasure of being a part of!

Chic Wedding Details – Hillary + Michael’s Wedding

We loved being a part of Hillary and Michael’s beautiful wedding day. Southern Bride and Groom magazine is featuring their wedding in their Chic Details section out this month. This wedding had ice sculptures, performers, fireworks – the whole nine yards! It was truly incredible to be a part of this special day.  Hillary is an absolutely stunning bride and our hair stylist, Kristin and makeup artist, Jen B. enjoyed working with her to add an elegant, chic look to her bridal party.

Of course, it takes a team of people to make a wedding as chic and beautiful as this. Vendors included Dara Blakeley Photography, Southern Video Design, Fresh Affairs and Elegant Ensembles. (See full list below).

A wedding takes many different elements coming together to make one event fantastic. Here is a list of some things that are guaranteed to make a wedding chic and unique.

It was a pleasure working on this wedding and we are thrilled that it is being featured in Southern Bride and Groom! Thank you to all of the amazing vendors that helped make the day spectacular, and congratulations to the newlyweds.
