Lauren and Mark tied the knot at the beautiful Matthews House in Cary, North Carolina. Their sweet loved was captured beautifully by Nancy Ray Photography. We loved working with Lauren and hope you enjoy these beautiful images that celebrate sweet love!

In observance of Memorial Day, Makeup for Your Day would like to not only extend our condolences for those loved ones that you’ve lost but also share some beautiful ideas that we’ve seen brides and families implement at their weddings to honor a deceased family member and/or serviceman or servicewoman.
A great way to show your support is to wear a small memento of your lost loved one. This can be as small as your grandmother’s wedding earrings to something larger like your grandfather’s tie. These small additions are great conversation pieces to get people speaking about them and to show you care.
A small notation in a program or their name on a seat marker are all great ways to show, in writing, that you are including those who have passed. Carrying a small handwritten note within your bouquet or in your dress is another great way to honor them with the power of the written word.
A little light…
A candle is a great way to symbolize the passed individual. This candle can remain lit through your wedding or you can dedicate a small portion of the ceremony to lighting the candle followed by a moment of silence.
Here at Makeup for Your Day we would love to thank all the brave men and women for their sacrifices to this country. Please tag a member of the military who you would like to honor.
Hi MYD fans! Caroline Lucas here, reporting from Nashville, TN. I know you have been waiting on pins and needles wondering what we would be revealing this week and here it finally is! Makeup for Your Day is expanding to Music City!

Starting in Raleigh, NC and traveling all over for destination weddings we felt like it was time to branch out and explore new territory, and what better fit for our artists than the city that is known for its talent?
At Makeup for Your Day we are always looking for new inspiration, and even though I have only been living in Nashville for a short period, let me tell you, this city is full of it! From festivals and concerts, river views to mountain tops, not to mention all the great food, and growing neighborhoods – Nashville has it all.
So lucky me… I got the opportunity to use this Nashville launch post as an excuse to play tourist in my own city! Come along with me as we scratch the tip of the iceberg on this fun-filled city.
Like most things, to get started, first we need COFFEE! Okay so this might not count as a tourist moment… but can you blame a girl?
Barista Parlor is located in one of my favorite neighborhoods known as East Nashville. A little hip, trendy, and up and coming East Nashville is the place to find awesome food, craft cocktails, and off the charts coffee.
This, my friends, is a whiskey caramel latte and get a load of the DOUGHNUTS! One of each please!….*someone rolls me to my car. Looking at this all I can think is, “Where can I find a lipstick the shade of that pink glaze”? Talk about the perfect “subtle with a pop” color! That, my friends, is on our #mydbeauty to-do list!
Alright, alright, now that we’re nice and awake let’s keep it moving. Next stop… The Grand Ole Opry! This place is enormous. It was a beautiful day and good thing because you could walk for days and not experience this whole space.
My brain kept heading straight to all the amazing event spaces. The bridal photo opportunities were endless, and every where you turned was another great piece of Tennessee history. I cannot wait for this to be a regular spot for us. Seeing our artistry on a beautiful Opry bride seems like a dream come true!
Of course, the trip wouldn’t be complete without heading out to Broadway…Nashville’s self-proclaimed “Honky Tonk Highway.” Downtown Nashville is always on. Walking down the street you can hear the talent streaming out of the famous bars like, Robert’s and Tootsies.
At Makeup for Your Day, we are known for all the work we do with our amazing brides, but we also do a lot with commercial shoots and head shots, and in a city like Nashville I have a feeling that is going to keep us pretty busy.
Doing hair and makeup meant for lights and stage can be a whole different animal – which is why we make sure to train all our artists and hair stylists on the varying components for each situation. We also make sure that we carry the best products for every situation.
Unlike a lot of people who migrate to Music City, I’m not looking to have my name put up in lights… but I sure am looking forward to seeing the names and faces of our clients up there!
So this concludes the first leg of our Nashville tour. But don’t you worry, there is a lot more where this came from. Our blog, Instagram, and Facebook are going to be filled with bridal inspiration, hair and makeup trends, and our travels from Nashville, Raleigh, the beautiful NC Crystal Coast and Outer Banks, and destinations worldwide! So stay tuned and keep an eye out on all the exciting things Makeup for Your Day will be up to.
We’d love your support in our new endeavor! If you have friends, family or colleagues in the Nashville or surrounding areas that you feel would love our luxury services, please pass our info along and make sure they let us know who sent them! And if there is something you would like to see or a place in Nashville that you find inspiration please leave a comment below. We can’t wait to hear from you!
Thanks again, and we will see you soon!
xoxo,
Caroline and the MYD Beauty Team!

February is Bridal Show Month for Makeup for Your Day! Our final bridal show for February was back in Durham at The Cookery! This venue is also historic and has a very unique and urban feel to it.

This event had a live band and the guests were encouraged to visit every vendor for a chance to enter a raffle!

Megan and I had so much fun chatting with brides and their fiances about their upcoming wedding plans! We met guests who were just recently engaged and some that were just putting the finishing touches on their events.

Bridal shows are a great way to get to chat with vendors and see venues fully decorated. If you find yourself at a bridal show in the future, please make sure you stop by and chat with us! My favorite part of it all is meeting couples and sharing in the excitement of planning a wedding and getting to know them.

That wraps up our bridal shows before we enter this 2016 wedding season. We’ve got a lot of work to do catching up with all the brides we met at the shows this season! See you at the next show! -Kelsi
February is Bridal Show Month at Makeup for Your Day and I will be documenting all of the shows we went to! Megan and I were back in Durham again for a bridal show at the Museum of Life and Science.
I think that this venue brought out the inner child in me. We were set up in the weather room and I don’t know how many vendors can say they could chat with brides next to a tornado!
The museum set up this gorgeous alter.
Our models for this event were actually employees at the museum and were such a treat to chat with. They talked about how great it was to work for the museum!
Hair and Makeup by Makeup for Your Day
There was live music, food trucks and live animals, all of which could be brought out at an event. I met a lizard and a snake at the bridal show! How cool is that!?
Monica, an employee of the museum, played the role of the “bride” perfectly!
I also got to try some honey lavender ice cream from The Parlour ice cream bus! It was so delicious! Also, who doesn’t love running up to the ice cream truck for a sweet treat!
Our “bridesmaid” model with her date! Hair and Makeup by Makeup for Your Day.
Megan and I got to chat with some great brides who had come to the museum. Some were already planning on having their wedding there, others were getting a feel for the place. I am sure after this fun night, the choice would be easy!
Jessica Arden Photography Booth
Our booth was located next to Jessica of Jessica Arden Photography! She’s a good friend of Makeup for Your Day and a very talented photographer from Durham!
I will continue to document the bridal shows we attended this February on the blog! Catch up with us tomorrow to see where we will go next!
February is Bridal Show Month at Makeup for Your Day and I will be documenting all of the shows we attended! We were invited to be a vendor at The Rickhouse in Durham. This show was fun because it was on Valentine’s day, so it seemed extra romantic.
I really like this venue because it carries so much charm and history. We had a great view of the brewery! Megan and I came out for this show and we got to chat with some great vendors and meet some of the fun brides-to-be!
We had our flowers provided for this show by Tre Bella and they were so gorgeous! I love the way they looked next to the brick background.
Tre Bella’s Display at the Bridal Show
We had a great view of the big dance floor that The Rickhouse has. I feel like Durham brings out the unique creativity in people! At this event I got to meet Riley Mclean and see his tin types! What a cool way to take a portrait!
I will be documenting the rest of our February bridal shows this week! Tune in tomorrow to see where we went next!
We can’t hold it in any longer…bursting from the seams, singing from the rooftops, dancing in the rain. You get the picture. We are extremely giddy and honored to be featured on GRACE ORMONDE today with the likes of the very talented Renee Sprink Photography and a slew of other amazing vendors that helped style a beautiful CHANEL inspired shoot. We were so thrilled to get the call from Renee to collaborate on the perfect and classic CHANEL color story for the beauty look for the model. How in love are you with that sultry eye and bright pink lip?! Of course, Miss United States – Elizabeth Safrit, looks stunning without a stitch of makeup and not one curl around the wand, we think we dolled her up just perfectly for this type of inspirational work. {Hair and makeup by Jen B. (me, eek!)}
Enjoy this snippet from GRACE ORMONDE and check out the full gallery by clicking on the photo. Check back soon for more of our favorites from this shoot. Believe us…GOW only touched on a few of the beauties that came out of this CHANEL IN THE CITY shoot!
We are thrilled to meet blushing brides all day in the beautiful city of Chapel Hill for the 20th annual Carolina Inn Bridal Showcase. You will not want to miss out on all the delicious food, champagne, talented vendors and all the pretty, pretty decor! Please stop by and introduce yourself at our table in Hill Ballroom. We can’t wait to hear about your wedding plans! Don’t forget to share your experience of the show by using hashtag #Innlove2015 and of course we’d love for you to tag us and use #mydbeauty so we can chat after the show.
